On Failing and Learning

When I fail, I am not a failure.

This is the greatest lesson I have learned to date. I stumbled upon it.

✨ THE LESSON: Separate the concept of BEing from actions - the DOing part of life. Who I am Being is what matters. Becasue I am a being, I matter inherently.

I used to be afraid to show up fully in life as my imperfect self, for fear of disappointing, not being good enough, not knowing enough, not enough enough enough. Sometimes this mindset recurs. Now I recognize this and ask for help to move through it.

As I learn more and more about purpose, I have learned to embrace that who I am is enough and that failing is simply a learning mechanism. A highly effective tool in the puzzle of life that connects pieces.

I am not what I do. I do not associate my identity with roles and reaching goals.

I am who I am built to be, not by choice, but by design. So are you.

No one will ever again posses the combination of your brain anatomy, physiology, genes, biochemistry, lived experiences, etc. etc. etc.

You are who you are built to be. What will you do with this tremendous creation that you embody?

⏳ Will you wait until the time is right? Time waits for no one.
Will you act when you know for sure? Certainty is a dreamlike illusion.

Then take the next best step with your imperfect self that is purpose-built to be here, now, to try and fail and learn and grow and have setbacks and get backs.

You will stumble.

Life is a question, and the question is not "will I stumble?"
The answer is too simple. You will stumble If you are trying hard and even if you are not.
The questions is, "How do you keep getting up from the stumbles?"

The answer is - live in your purpose.

Purpose teaches me that I was born enough, not perfect. You are born enough.
Perfectly imperfect is how we are built to be.

The point of life is to live it;
to find meaning that motivates you
people who uplift you
ideas that excite you
to make memories that bring you back and take you forward
to grow through love and suffering
to be nourished with connection and insight and perspective
to BE who you are born to be
Understanding that doing is an outcome, not a destination.

As you reflect on 2024 and plan for 2025, notice what you fear and then examine it. Is it true? What can you learn from it?

When people take their last breath, they are comforted by the meaning, the connection, the learning and legacy of life.

They are haunted by regret of what they never tried, who they never asked for help, and who they never helped.

Wishing you a purposeful, joyfueled 2025! 🔥 🥂
